How To Tell if Your Turbo is About to Fail?

So I know it’s coming. The day I need to tear into my cutaway. I’m not looking forward to this, but it’s inevitable.

The problem I think I have is a frozen unison ring. It throws DTCs and the engine light comes on. The error says that the vane position sensor is out of range. Sometimes the engine “barks” or “chuffs”

The other thing is that I swear I hear it after the engine is shut off. It sounds like the impeller is dragging like “cha-cha-cha-cha-cha” for a second before it stops.

I have a lot my plate right now and I’d like to wait. Little bit if I can. The question I have is this turbo going to explode on me if I keep driving it?
