tuning an 2008 GM 6.6 diesel for more horsepower

'been searching for a while now, both on the forum here and on google and haven't been able to find any yes or no answers to the question, 'can the horsepower in the 6.6 be boosted with a chip?'

thanks - you are definitely an asset for the forum - it's for a city bus I hope to bid on at the end of the month - - ( 550, TopKick platform ) - the auction house ( Richie Bro ) only provides so much info on their site and are not very cooperative about answering specific questions about the items they have listed, so I don't know about the transmission - I am pleased to hear that boosting that motor is a possibility

there are many different tuners for it... the term is more "tuner" for the duramaxx of these years... it will be an emission motor if its an 08.. so you may want to look into DPF deletes as well if you are going to power tune.. as long as canada doesnt inspect too closely..

topkick/5500 should have an allison 1000 6 speed in it..

with your help I was able to find this out about the bus I'm interested in --

RPM
2000
Diff Ratio
4.78
OverDrive (ie. .73, .84, .86)
.614
Tire Diameter Inches (Radius x 2)
39
MPH
79

the motor is governed at 3450 RPM, which would give me a speed of well over 130 MPH - lol - far beyond what I'll ever try to do

365 hp @ 3,100 rpm 660 lb-ft @ 1,800 rpm

I also found out that if you increase the horsepower, and use it too harshly, it will automatically slow everything down so it can do a computer check to make sure everything is still ok - that's all I would need to have happen on a long steep hill - lol

it can also Limp the trans to go with too much HP.... with a .61 OD it has an allison 1000 in it... thats a 6 speed double OD trans.. so you'll have plenty of gears to go through when pulling a hill..

I explained it poorly - that's what I was trying to say -the bus is a very nice looking vehicle, stout enough at 26000 GVWR to meet my needs, should be relatively simple to convert to my needs ( my girlfriend likes it, a critical point - lol ) and it should travel nicely on the highway - now I hope I can come up with the necessary $'s by the end of the month - thanks for your help Chris
