Don't understand the question? The chassis number is the number on the frame designating who built it.

On a 75, have no clue, there will be VIN's on it in a number of places. Look in door jambs and under the hood.

A 1975 Blue Bird RE is going to be an All American. It may or may not have a Blue Bird chassis. It may or may not have an OEM vendor supplied chassis.

If it is on an OEM vendor supplied chassis it will have some OEM vendor specific identifiers. The OEM vendor's name or logo will be on the front of the bus above the front bumper if it is still there. If the OEM vendor's logo is not there the dash board will have some clues.

It is is on an OEM vendor supplied chassis the dash board will have been supplied by the OEM vendor. In other words the speedometer and gauge cluster will have been made by the OEM vendor. Somewhere on the gauges it will have the OEM vendor name or logo.

If there is no OEM vendor supplied name or logo anywhere is the driver's compartment and no evidence of a name or logo on the front of the bus then the bus chassis is a Blue Bird chassis. Blue Bird has never had a proprietary engine so all of the engines have been supplied by an OEM vendor. BB used a lot of gas engines over the years. In the 1970's a favorite was the Ford Super Duty 534 V-8 gas engine. When Ford stopped making that engine available BB started purchasing GM Tonawanda gas V-8's. Both the 366 and 427 high deck engines were available.

All of this is to say you need to discover if your bus is on a BB or an OEM vendor supplied chassis. National, OshKosh, Hendrickson, IHC, GM, Spartan, and a few other OEM vendors were still making Type 'D' bus chassis available. Various engine options were available so having a 427 would not have been unusual even if the chassis hadn't been made by GM.

Regardless of who built the incomplete chassis the VIN found up in the left front corner of the dashboard should be all you need to identify the bus.

Can you post a photo of the dash and driver's area?

I suppose BB can't tell from the information you have as to whether or not the bus has a BB chassis or an OEM vendor supplied chassis.

17 digit VIN numbers were not required until sometime in the '80s. My 1980 Eagle had a six digit serial number on the frame.

Your Bluebird may not have a "proper" VIN.

VIN numbers have been required since 1954. The standardized 17 digit coding was required after 1980. Before that the different manufacturers used different formats for their numbering systems.
