Ya just need to drag a few solar panels, a portable gen set or drive your can to where power is needed. Cold weather does not destroy batteries. Batteries lose their charge for many reasons. In cold weather, more energy is required as the mechanical device tolerances are reduced. The battery energy is consumed quickly. I am not a big fan of 8D batteries. It is a real chore to drag a couple of these batteries out of a bus to my shop for a recharge. A couple car batteries will start most bus engines. Crank for a minute, rest for 3 minutes, the engine should start. Frank
