Detroit Diesel CB6 DIESEL D60
Hey all,
Wanted to see if anyone has experience with this engine. Found a bus that is listed on Craigslist for 2300 with less than 200k miles on it. The year on this bus is 85.
Thanks!

Be very skeptical of the mileage. If the mileage is correct jump on it. That's a million mile class 8 engine.

First off, the series 60 came out a few years later then 85, so it's not the original engine. Secondly, I'd be very skeptical that a bus would have this engine mounted. As said, it's a class 8 engine and you'd have to shoe horn it to get it to fit. A coach on the other hand is more likely to have one mounted. But I doubt you're going to find a coach for 2300 bucks.
Why don't you add the link that's for it so that we can see what it actually is.

Detroit never made a "CB6 D60". A Series 60 is a big inline-6 used in heavy trucks and tour/Greyhound buses, but never in school buses or transit buses (transits used its 4-cylinder brother Series 50). In addition to clarifying what engine it is (Series 60s came in 3 sizes), what transmission does it have (usually a B500 was with them), and what is the rest of the drivetrain?
Any 1985 long-distance bus with 200,000 indicated miles probably has one or two more million miles than that, or it was re-engined - if so, why and when?
Caveat emptor, big time.

Yikes! If you buy it the first step is to remove the decals from the rear window:
That's about the most self-incriminating bumper sticker I've ever seen!
