Detroit inline turbo 6

anyone know if these are decent engines. or if there was more than one type that was used in 94 ward bus. I'm looking for information on the net but that doesn't seem to turn up much in search.

I don't know. That was all the info the owner had. I was hoping I could narrow it down.

Could you post a pic? Likely we can ID it.

Without a pic my guess would be that it is, as Christopher said, a DT-466 mistakenly called a "Detroit" when it is not. It is made by International.

I'm hoping it's a DT466

I don't have a pic of the engine but here's the ad.

Already gutted and ready for build - and has a hitch. That seems to be a low price for a Craigslist bus - if it is running - seems to be a pretty good deal. I wonder what the underside looks like - rust?

in that year its either a DT-360 or a DT-466 and would be mechanical, likely AT545 transmission..

I have seen alot of these Ward bodies with DT-360s in them. DT-360 isnt as big as a 466.. but its a solid reliable engine.

many of the DT-466's had the label on the hood.. the DT-360 never did..
