power steering geear box leak

Haven't started moved the bus for sometime. moved it the other day and I got a leak at the gasket where the steering gear box/pinon is. It leaks right behind the push rod that connects to the steering arms on the axle. Can I just buy a gasket or do I need to replace the whole steering box ?

Re: power steering geear box leak

Could be dry from sitting, shrunk etc. I would run it for a while and see if it stops. That is unless it pours out. Common sense here....

Re: power steering geear box leak

i think you are talking about the steering sector shaft from what i can read, and they are cheap.. but takes a while to r&r. you can clean and adjust you steering box while u have it out... not to mention checking it and tie rod ends, etc.
