that is a beautiful sound. I really like the sound of the 2 stroke DD's......the 53 series is smaller than the engines i'm familiar with.

the 72 and 91 series are think are the most common ones in transit buses and such.

A guy has a few 3 phase geni's that are running a 2v detroit....they might be 53's I can't remember . They came off of the rail system for running refer units i'm pretty sure.

I also like the sound of the cummins 5.9 with open exhaust...sounds really good.

on the opposite end of the spectrum is the 7.3 internationl's. There is nothing you can do to make that sick pig sound good. The quieter you can keep that thing, the better it is for everyone.

A 7.3 PowerStroke with a 4" pipe sounds pretty good, especially spinning 3000+RPM at full-bore. The T444E sounds similar.

The NA 6.9 and 7.3 IDI sounds a bit like a gasser at the tailpipe...though my brother once described the sound of my idling 1992 F-350 turbo diesel as "the AFLAC duck on speed".

"Mmmmm....Detroit Diesel" (while doing best Homer Simpson impression)

I love the sound of a 2 stroke diesel, whether it be a modded out Detroit like that or the low thunder of an EMD locomotive. There's just something special about that sound....

As long as everyone else is talking about what their rig sounds like....

My 6.6 sounds like an ISB Cummins only louder....it's just like a 5.9 on steroids. I LOOOOOVVVVVEEEEE how loud the turbo is on it. Accelerating to highway speed is great cause all you hear is that turbo spooling (it's near the driver's position), that Allison whining faintly, and the heated air dryer purging. You just feel like the king of the road at that moment.

I never knew our PC's had 2stroke dd's....we drove the piss out of them, only issues I remember where fans went out a lot...they def. Sounded different than our turbines we would go from idling to full throttle in the 113's all the time
