1995 t444 started via screwdriver arcing starter?

See title. 1995 t444. Mucked up the E door kill switches and wiring is jammed behind a wall panel. I use plug in tools & an inverter so i cant get to the kill switch wiring without starting.

Can i lay a screwdriver across the starter & solenoid posts to start it w/ key in run position? Just making sure i dont fry anything via ignorance b4 i try... thanks.

This method will work to start the bus, but if it's a manual transmission, make SURE it's in neutral and parking brake set before starting it.

Regardless of your weather conditions?
Your chassis manufacturer and body manufacturer filled out in your profile would help you a lot.
If you have to use anything metal across the starter solenoid to start your bus besides your key then the solenoid is probably your starting point because your key switch is obviously sending its signal.
If you are complaining cause you solenoid is on your starter then you probably have a GM product if it is not attached to the starter and you have access to from inside then you have to tell us what bus you have?

You know those old worn out household pliars? Those are perfect for bridging that selenoid.

Lets do the math...Honda CVCC, about 60 amps output...Cold diesel engine....about 500 amps input....Solved.

You will be changing an alternator soon if you keep this up.

Well i was complaining about the snow, not the bus.

Ill fill out the profile info soon, didnt realize that was a thing. For now, its a 1995 international thomas body w a t444 and at545. Solenoid is on starter.

Also, i hooked up the jumper cables to the battery - not the solenoid itself. Used a screwdriver to arc the posts.

Thanks again guys.
