I recently bought a 1998 AmTran flat-nose, rear engine 72-passenger bus and am in the process of figuring out which switches from the original cockpit I need. The main switch panel has a few rocker switches that are missing labels and I have no idea what their purpose was. The wiring is understandably confusing underneath the panel and tracing wires is impossible. My drive home on the interstate took me to well after dark and the panel lights were off most of the time so I actually looked forward to the large bumps in the highway to rattle them back on for a while.
So I decided to simplify and eliminate unnecessary clutter. The bus had been owned by a church for several years and the school bus lights have been removed and the holes covered so I don't need to worry about that part of the wiring at least.
Although I have a few good schematics, they don't tell me what the switches are (or used to be) for. Is it possible to find either pictures or a manual that would clue me in? I assume these buses had a fairly common switch layout.
This is my first bus and I am really excited about the possibilities here!
