2006 ce 300 bluefire port

Looking at a bus with engine light on and can't find port for blue fire. Where is it?

Should be on the underside of the dash to the right of the steering wheel.

Perhaps I am confused as to what I am looking for. The Bluefire I have is the 9 pin round version. I saw nothing like that in the 2006 bus. That makes me think I need to be looking for a rectangular connector (and the needed adaptor).
Maybe one of these was the connector.

What is the method for getting the engine error codes without a reader? I assume there is a magic button-press-start combo that will show them in the little LCD dash.

This should work, but maybe it changed before 2006. Turn the ignition key to ON (but don't start the engine) and press the engine diagnostic button (which should be under the dash on the right, where I said the data port should be). After several seconds the oil/water light will flash once and then the warn engine light will flash a series of flashes separated by pauses (e.g 1 flash - pause - 2 flashes - pause - 3 flashes would be code 123). If there is more than one active code, the oil/water light will flash once between codes. After active codes are displayed, oil/water light will flash twice and then inactive codes will be displayed. After all codes are read, oil/water light will flash 3 times.

Codes (for the DT466e, not sure if they're what you need):

Awesome, Thanks musigenesis! This will come in handy.

The bus had the engine light on and the lcd display said "WARN ENG", I drove it maybe 2 miles, then turned it off for 15-20 min. Later when I turned it back on the light and WARN message were gone. I don't remember if the light was still on when I returned after the drive before I turned it off.
Is this common for a bus that hasn't been started for a while?

I dunno. My expertise as far as engines are concerned is limited to knowing my mechanic's phone number. But I've done the diagnostic code thing at least.

2006 ce 300 will have round 9 pin to right of drivers seat under the dash. Kinda above the factory radio. Sometimes there's a dust cap on them or the school district left a sensor plugged in.

You can kinda see it in this video around the 17-1/2 minute mark.

Thanks, that video clears it up. The connector is much farther to the right and higher up than I expected it to be.

if looking for codes on the LCD be sure to look at the newst code list.. the ECM's changed in 2004 when DT466 went to EGR.. (no longer has a large computer hanging off the side of the engine)..

I looked at a different ce300 today and was able to use the scanner. No error codes. Bus seems to be in great shape. Main flaw I found is the temp gauge is not working, but with Bluefire I could tell the coolant sensors are working.

Indeed. The 9 pin connector itself is gray in color, under the dashboard and “center console” (where the radio and gear shifter is). Mine never had the dust cap in place but did have a connector for the “Zonar” system that was installed aboard. That being said, the connector would either be hard mounted or loose by wires, but in the same general location on the CEs, regardless if either a CE200 or CE300.
