7.6 CID & ??? Allison transmission ?

What would be your impression of an International 1997 bus described as having a 7.6 CID engine and an Allison transmission of unknown model? Always worth a look? Avoid transmission X ? Appears to have 10 windows, 196k miles. Conventional cowl over engine.

I have a 99 with that motor and it has an Allison 3060, w/5 speeds open. That would likely be the same. An excellent combo.
With few exceptions, they ALL have Allison trans in them. Allison makes desirable as well as undesirable trannies.

That would be 7.6 liters, 466cubic inches

if its a Conventional (bus with a hood).. most likely going to be an MT643(good) or AT545(bad).. or as mark mentioned possibly an MD3060 (best)...

in 97 the engine could be a DT466 mechanical or a DT466E electronic...

really need more info to see how good a bus it might be

either a 545 or a 643. Probably a 545.

I see tire chains, and Ruckersville is right at the edge of the mountains. I would be curious how it is geared.

At least under the hood it seems to relatively rust free. I would want to have a better look under it for rust, as it is likely to have been driven in snow, and Virginia does salt the roads. Not saying it is a rust bucket, but do check if you can.
