Allison 545 dtc codes

I have a 2000 international 3800 with an Allison 545 transmission
after checking my dtc trouble codes with a scan gaugeD and e-mailing the results to customer service this was the reply :"Hello.

I can help you out with those codes!

FM 13: Out of calibration

2.) ID 36: Clutch Plates

FM 0: Data valid but above normal operational range

3.) ID 84: Wheel-Based Vehicle Speed
Speed of the vehicle as calculated from wheel or tail shaft speed.

FM 4: Voltage below normal or shorted low

4.) ID 247: Engine Total Hours of Operation
Accumulated time of operation of engine.

FM 2: Data erratic, intermittent, or incorrect

Subject: Trouble codes on scan gauge D

Hello, I am contacting you with a question about some trouble codes on my scan gauge D.
Can you give me the descriptions for the following dtc trouble codes?

# ID FM CNT
<1 34 13 84

# ID FM CNT
<2 36 0 0

# ID FM CNT
<3 84 4 0

# ID FM CNT
<4 247 02 34

Vehicle description:
Year - 2000
Make - International
Model - 3800
Engine - DT444E

Thank you for your help and time."

So. Has anyone had any experience with these codes? I'm not familiar with this transmission but it seems I've got some internal trouble in my future relating to my clutch plate pressure

i got no help on your codes, only an opinion.

the at545 is mechanical operated transmission. there may have been some electric keypad controllers ordered with it circa 2000, but sensor input and output is going to be real basic, if any at all.

about all you can do is change the fluid or change the trans.

no real electronic info will come from this generation transmission.

there is probably not much electronic info until your in an allison 1000, 2000, 3000 series.

Well, there's no transmission control module on an at545, so that means there are no codes for the transmission. The codes you pulled are from the engine control module.

Was the check engine light on?

What engine do you have?

The only code that I see that would pertain to your transmission is #3, which is an open on the speed sensor circuit. Does your speedometer work?

looks like he has a T-444E

sometimes the scangauge D doesnt always snag the right codes off the J1708, if its an international 3800 there should be a diagnostic button next to your plugin connector..

turn your key to ON without the engine running and press that button... it will flash out the codes to you.. each digit in a group of flashes..

the charts for flash-codes may be a little easier to read down,

I can look the codes you provided in my Navistar docs later tonight

Its a t444e and the light wasn't on I was getting a turbo fart. Going down hill so I checked the scan gaugeD to see if there was any stored codes. The description sounded like transmission clutch plates to me so I figured I stumbled on some thing
The dash unit including the speedometer doesn't work so I figure that accounts for most of the codes

Thanks I appreciate the imfo. So using that method here's the codes I got :
344EBPExhaust back pressure above spec. when engine off

343AMSExcessive exhaust back pressure (gauge)

141 VVSVehicle Speed Sensor signal out-of-range low
The speed sensor makes sense but the other two sound like they may be related to my turbo popping

yeah sounds like your EBPV is sticking possibly.. my 444E doesnt have an EBPV. so I'll let others chime in on how to disable it if you choose to grt rid of it.. its designed for helping the bus to warm up faster in the winter time.. and if it malfunctions all kinds of wierd stuff including loss of power can happen..

the speed sensor.. its a 2 pin connector plugged into the side of your AT545 at the tailshaft... if it gets unplugged or not make good contact the ECM computer wont see the 0-2 volt signal it wishes to see when the vehicle is stopped.. and will issue that code..

Yeah you're absolutely right funny thing is I've disabled the ebpv on every 7.3 I've owned and it didn't even occur to me

Ok now for an update having discovered that it was actually a ebp related set of codes I've disabled the ebp valve by disconnecting the rod and wiring the valve open. Unfortunately I'm unable to clear the codes to see if the ebp sensor is still reading high
