Alternator Replacement T444E

I've a 99 International 3800 Bluebird T444E. The alternator has seen better days, past due for a swap.

Currently installed is a Leece Neville 4830lcrm 175 amp 14 volt, as shown in attached image.

I found this as a replacement which shows 185 amp 12 volt:

I don't believe there's an actual difference on the voltage verbiage, but hey, I know a little about a lot and a lot about a little, so opted to pick the minds of others as well.

What say you?

Thanks!

Thats a reasonable replacement. Most automotive alternators are about 13.9-14.2 volts when they are fresh.

I rebuilt my 2800 series Leece-Neville alternator for cheap. It was really easy, simple, and quick (I did not do bearings, but they are easy also). I think if you could swap out the alternator yourself, you could rebuild it yourself.

see for details:

Got parts from National Quick Start Sales, high Output Alternator, Alternator and Starter parts

Make sure you get the right rectifiers for your alternator. Mine were at first "backwards" and I had to order a second pair. That was my fault, as I did not know my alternator series (I had a Lester number, not a Leece-Neville number, and no cross-reference chart at first). Still was cheaper (had to eat the wrong ones - I damaged one so no returns).

Lost track of the website, but from my email:

And if you ever plan on a battery isolator (for a "starter/vehicle" battery set, plus a seperate "house/motorhome" battery set) make sure you either (a) get the right alternator to work with the isolator, or (b) modify yours if needed while you have it out to rebuild it (real easy - see my thread in the link in the previous post)
