Rain decided to move in and I’m fighting a cold. It will probably be next weekend. I’m excited to try it too. I’ve got to figure which wire off the tcm that the ignition 12+ goes to..

My homebuilt skoolie is insured as an RV in PA - with Allstate, no less. I'm on my third year of the policy, though, so I don't know about new signups.

you live in a desert

rain?

I think that wire you seek TO the TCM will be in the pinouts you just sent me back that I lost in the laptop crash

I was feeding Pink 13 E (which came with donor bus TCM harness, part of the silver plug ) but that 13E is an IH wire code for "Electronic transmission" but it doesn't specify what that means

since we KNOW the TCM gets signal from the ECM etc and the ECM MUST be set from MT to AT or whatever

so logic *i think* would dictate this 13E is meant to simply be a "relay on" type signal, awaking the TCM

The Sleeper Must Awaken

Update

Ok so I thought I had it figured out, I load up the family because we had reservations at a camp site 2 hours away, we took off and I was still in limp mode.... so i had no where to go other than the camp site so 3.5 hours later at 33 miles per hour hitting neutral on the hills for extra speed lol. we got there it poured rain all weekend and I did not get to work on it so at the end of it I went 33 miles per hour home it took alittle over three hours lol and the engine did fabulous. That all being said I am trying to get the in cab wires right as well I know the green 125 goes to the blue 62 or brown 92a because those two are hooked together under my dash and when I hooked them to my green wire my check trans light came on, but the rest of the wires the 113 pink - 13J pink - the 123 pink and the two yellow wires 128e and 110 have me stumped I want to add some pictures but I don't know how. Which pink wire do I need to feed switched power to? These colors and numbers are from the allison side of the harness. I really appreciate all the help.

Dieselwrench, when you reply use the “go advanced” button and you can upload pictures. You and I are at the same point. If you don’t mind, post a pic of where you found blue 62k please. I connected green 125 to the brown 92a and did not get check trans. You connected to both?

You need that 12+ for your tcm to turn on it seems. So we will stay in limp mode til that is figured out. Hopefully Dave will chime in. I know he figured it out.

We all love pics! Dave, the pin out shows two yellow wires coming from the tcm harness that get key on power. I’m not seeing those yellow wires.

you're killing me smalls

I may have to take my dash cover back off for you two knuckleheads lol

I'm going by memory now, and it wasn't easy to do the first time let alone remember it now

but here goes

the first Allison Pinout is the one you need to worry about mostly and the wires I dealt with are right there on that.

The green 125 is what lights up your Check Trans light... i traced that one out of the back of my dash, and I THINK it was 94A... it was some trial and error. But basically you need to get the green 125 to light up that check trans light and either stay on (if faults) or goes on and self test, then goes out.

The other pink 113 is going to a regular incandescent bulb... in my case it came with my harness... but it is just a standard 12v light. This is the RANGE INHIBIT and it will also do a KOST (Key on self test). Its job is the transmission telling you "Nae I will not shift now" good example, trying to shift into reverse if your rolling to fast forward it will light up. your dash MAY have a range inhibit light in the cluster of newer dash... mine did not and so is just a regular light, looks like the NOS light in furious movies... big yellow one. So a logical guess would be to run the Pink 113 to a light bulb, and from bulb other terminal to ground... don't use LED (at first) as it may look for the resistance of a bulb... dunno

Yellow 102 and Yellow 104 are KEY ON 12V...

Pink 113 is vehicle system, and is also a 12v key on basically.. I have no idea what it is checking for, but I slaved it to my KEY circuit for the ABS and that sorted it... no idea what system it is SUPPOSED to go to, but it is looking for a 12v+ key on, off when off

Chris can better chime in, but what you are sorting now is all in the TCM J1 connector, the gray one.

otherwise it can get tricky from here.. if memory serves Diverdude has a large chunk of harness coming FROM the TCM and no where to put it with a lot of wires left? Or only a couple?

See on the TCM there are a LOT of other connections may not be used, and again Chris can better help. But I believe my bus gives speed and TPS position over the J139, so the speed and TPS sensor inputs on the TCM plug are prob unused?

again, not sure... I had the ENTIRE harness..

hope this helps.. I am GLAD to keep plugging along with ya'll

speed isnt over J1939 it is over a single wire that hooks to the 'A' pin of the VEHICLE harness where the original speed sensor on the rear of the AT545 connected.. for it to work your ECM must be set to 'allison MD' as the transmission type.. or the speedometer doesnt work right and throws codes..

the TPS is over J1939 or 'CAN' as its marked..

and this is why I wasn't sure

remember my allison TCM came with AT545 connections
so I didn't have to do any of that part

since you moved your engine ECM over you also didnt have to worry about programming it since you swapped the A2000 equipped bus' Engine and trans computers both they were already a matched set

True also

I do remember I had to go and get some parameters changed after I was done... one was because the vista has the lower profile tires

not sure what else

I took the 99 ECM in and the tech put it on the machine, and printed off what he would need for the 2000 ECM

the local IH dealer did not think I could pull it off, but they still were great lads about helping even though skeptical

I'd like to see diver and diesel successful

also need to re-visit that thread about the MT643 ring machine shop specs

I continually, to this day, admit that though it was still very difficult to pull off.

I did follow your guide

and then cheated some
