Best engine and transmission combo

Hello all I was wondering is the DT466 engine a good pair with the Allison AT545 transmission our would I be better off with the T444E engine with a Allison 2000 transmission

Depends on the overall condition of the whole bus.
The allison 2000 has every advantage over the 545. But the DT466 is a preferable engine to the T444E.

But just answering the question as posed- the 444/2000.

What's the rear axle ratio on each bus?

not sure but the T444E is a 2000 and the DT466 is a 1998 I just started looking for a bus and those two are the only ones I have found within 350 miles of me I have not messaged the dealer yet but plan to

if it is it wasn't there originally. I highly doubt there were allison 2000's in 1997's. That would almost surely have been a 545.
