Bluefire HELP!!
On our last trip, the bus barely limped home. I was so frustrated with it that I pulled it into the barn and there is has set. Now that I have calmed down a little I'm ready to figure out the problem so I ordered a Bluefire J1939 adapter. Unfortunately, it will not connect to the ECM, just blinks green. Does anyone have any advice on what can be done?

year 2003 should be a mix of J1708 / J1939. the trans-com is J1939 and the ECM is J1708, if you bought the 9 pin make sure you go in the app and set it up t oreceive J1708 data in the settings.

I had the same thing happen...but I also discovered what CK mentioned and it works. I turned on the J1708 protocol and it connected right away (that was on a 2001 bus).

yours is J1708 / J1939. your transmission is J1939 and your engine is J1708.. the 9 pin connector has both sets of datalinks in it and bluefire recognizes it. when I looked at the source code for Bluefire I seem to remember it didnt have all the PGN's broken out for the allison data in J1939

In the iOS app that I'm using, the option for J1708 is unchecked but the app still shows all the engine data. That's what made me assume it was all J1939.

Might they have replaced the ECM when the engine was rebuilt? (I think it was around 2012 when that happened)

your ECM unit will have the date on it.. I know my 04 ECM sends 10X the data that my 00 ECM did and thats with the exact same calibration file in both.. soft software itself is newer

Thanks cadillackid that worked!
I was able to get a fault code:
164-4 Engine - (PID) Injection Control Pressure. Voltage Below Normal, Or Shorted to Low Source.
Any idea what that means?

Were you ever able to solve error code 164-4? I had the same error pop up this week and was wondering what I should look for.

Probably you have a bad Injection Actuation Pressure Sensor.
