CE200 (t444e) diesel supply issues

I have a CE200 bus with the T444e engine. I started it to get ready for a trip and it ran for a bit then died and won't start.

The fuel tank is full but the fuel filter/bowl is empty. I have noticed a small diesel leak in the valley when I turn it off.

I primed the bowl but it still didn't start. I checked the bowl and it was empty again. I left the top off the bowl and cranked and nothing happened. No diesel pumped in. Seems like the fuel pump has failed.

I plan on replacing the o rings in the bowl but it seems like I also have a fuel pump issue.

The plan for now is rebuild the fuel bowl and replace the mechanical fuel pump. Is there a lift pump on these in line or in the tank that I should also look into? Seems like the tank is really far for just the one pump.

Thanks!

as far as i know T444E's were only built with the mechanical Pump in the valley.. there are plenty of E-fuel (electric pump) conversion kits and fuel-bowl delete kits available for these..

(the 94-96 Ford 7.3 used the same mechanical pump)..

sounds to me like there is a leak in that fuel pump or the check valve in the bowl allowing fuel to drain back to the tank.

if you fill the bowl and start it will it prime itself up and run?

Nope I tried priming. I'm not getting even bubble out of the supply from the pump in the bowl.

im assuming you have "sticked" the tank to make sure there is sufficiant fuel? (dont rely on the dash gauge.. actually check the tank.)
