Clearing SPN1378 Code For Oil Change

Hello,
Thanks to some help from some knowledgeable people on here in a previous thread. I was able to sort out an engine light (MIL) on dash and Engine Warn on my instrument panel. I have the statement near my odometer that says to "Change Engine Oil" which I am in the process of actually doing.

I ran the scan and came up with the official code SPN1378 in my device. Now I would like to clear the code in the ECM. I researched it online and there is a procedure with a sequence of cruise control buttons on International truck's steering wheel, but those buttons on my steering wheel used to work the lights stop traffic. Which have been disconnected for DOT reasons. My attempts at doing the code clearing with them have not worked thus far.

Does anyone have any other suggestions about clearing the Engine Oil Change warning lights (little yellow wrench) and odometer statement? Do I need to upgrade my diagnostic hardware to the laptop and software to do this? My little scanner can clear the MIL, but the code is still there.

2013 IC AE with Maxxforce 7.

Thanks everyone.

Rich

I believe the oil change function in the parameters can be turned off at a dealer. Might be worth a phone call.

Shop I'm at do not have the program for me to confirm. We are running a quickly ageing snap-on scanner. We turned our back on the J-pro software which I liked but didn't do any heavy stuff

The bus garage I left had more in software. However we were not using the tuned in oil change interval. We just changed the oil every 3000miles or less(6 months)

RESETTING CHANGE ENGINE OIL SERVICE INTERVAL
MESSAGE

As per MaxxForce ® 7
Engine Operation and Maintenance Manual

Reset the Service Interval Message (change engine oil) per the
following procedure:
1. If not already done, set the parking brake.
2. Turn ignition switch to ON.
3. Turn CRUISE ON.
4. Turn CRUISE OFF.
5. Turn CRUISE ON.
6. Very rapidly push the resume switch four times and then hold
down on the fifth time for 4 seconds.
7. The operation from the time the CRUISE is turned ON for the
second time to the fifth activation of the resume switch must
take place within 6 seconds. If you fail to reset the message,
repeat the process.
8. The Change Engine Oil Service Interval message should
clear and reset for the next service interval.

Those c/c buttons if i am not mistaken are routed thru the body control module. If those buttons were operating " lights stop traffic" (stop lights?) then either they did a hard wire re-route or reprogrammed the BCM to perform that function.

If I am correct al all, then dealer only or find someone with the DLB software.
