Def Fluid

So I recently bought a 2008 International with a DT 466/allison trans. I'm new to diesels . My question is . How do I know if I need to use Def fluid? I don't see any special tanks for it.

Hi Valicyn, SCR technology (that uses DEF) came with EPA 2010 emissions regulation.
2008 model => no SCR => No DEF (one less trouble)

if you dont have a second fuel fill door with a smaller neck that a diesel pump hose should not be able to fit it and alot of times on the other side of the vehicle than the fuel tank fuel door then you probably dont have the DEF system.
if you have the flip forward hood then i have seen a few (very few early model ideas) with it under the hood.
i think that idea was because you were already supposed to check your other fluids when you stopped for fuel anyway.
i have seen to many trucks in the shop with diesel in the DEF system and DEF in the fuel system
