DT 466 engine EGR

Wondering What year did they start using the EGR on DT 466e engines.

Thanks I have Google it but can't seem to get same answer. I get 2004 some time get 2005. So is it 2003 DT 466 that I should look for unless I lucky enough to find a 1993 or earlier that is mechanical injection.

ive see na FEW 2003 trucks with it.. in the bus world 2004 / 2005 is generally the year EGR came out on them.. the busses are sometimes a year or so behind so its possible to find an 04 bus without EGR as it may have a 2003 engne..

the AmTran Genesis Busses were sometimes built up through 97 with mechainical DT;s.. they are the only vehicle ive seen run mechanical past 94.

in my opinion the 98-03 DT466E is the best years as you have the more modern computers and not yet EGR

you can find a scant few of them mechanical up to 98.
egr started with MY 2004.
Look for any DT466 (or E) up to 2003. But the cream of the crop were probably the NGD's they used for the later mechanical setups. like 95-96.
My favorite diesel engine I've owned was the DT466 in my old 92 Ward. Simple and robust.

NGD DT466 mechanicals came out in 1994.. they can easily be spotted by still having an injection pump with hard fuel lines to the top of the motor but feature a serpentine belt drive.. the NGD's were most often 94-96 but like ECCB says you can find amTran branded busses with the mechanical NGD's up through 1998...

the NGD not only featured serpentine belt drive but also the very popular and up-gradable P-Pump injection pump

There were also DT408 (6.7L) which is just the little sister to the DT466. Those only came in the NGD configuration, and only for a couple years ~94-96.

The EGR equipped engines officially started with the 2004 emissions package. This is going to be specific to the engine model year. It was 2006 that things went south for international and you should steer clear of their engines. I believe all their new buses only have cummins engines available anymore.
