Alternators
Alternators are named because of the electrical type of energy. They make AC power. The AC is converted to DC to be compatible to the DC battery. Usually an alternator will not charge unless the battery has at least a 12 volt charge. Alternators merely amplify voltage and amperage. The unit uses 12 volts to make 14-16 volts. The unit uses about 1/2 of 1 amp and can make up 100 amps of energy. The number one reason for battery and alternator failure is poor electrical connections at these components....... Frank
