dt360 vs 444e or other

In my area finding clean buses with 444e's around 100k, even less miles for $2-$2500 is pretty easy. Full size short buses are hard to come by, but I located a 5 window International with a dt360 and 200k for $2200. I know diesel guys like the dt360 an other inline 6s better, but how do people feel about low mileage 444s vs higher mile inline 6's?

My perfrence is for an in-line 6 cyl, though it has been pointed out here by others that if you get a low mile, good engine bus you have a good chance of never having to do any major engine work, regardless of engine type.

Re: dt360 vs 444e or other

I have 1999 t444e it has almost 200,000kms on it , I like it just fine , I put 9700kms this summer on it , used less then a half a liter of oil, got a average 10.5 mpg(full size blue bird), it was well maintained. most people like the 466,\360 and I do to, but its like anything else you can get a bad one, doesnt matter what size it is. one thing about the 444, its eazy as pie to get parts, if you had to you can go to a ford dealer, that could be a big plus if your in some small town up in the middle of the boonies. my buddy has a 466 in his bus, its quieter then mine, and seems to have more poop. but he has a over heat problem, hes thinking its a leaky o ring in the cly head(common problem). I have to say Im really happy with the my 444, it starts and runs great, and I know ill get 500kms if I look after it, that will be 15 years or so., Its up to you, just make sure what everone you get make sure it was reg, mainted.

just my 2 cents
