DT466 smoke troubleshoot

I own a skoolie that has a 1996 International DT466 230hp (mechanical) Diesel. Engine was overhauled but has not been broken in yet as it is not insured. Its been started and run now and then for a year. Since the rebuild I have had white smoke when I rev it up and sometimes an almost unnoticeable amount at idle. It runs and starts great. The injectors are a possibility but they were properly rebuilt at the Bosch dealer with new tips etc. I'm thinking either the rings are not seated, the injection pump is acting up, water in fuel? Any ideas from experienced members?

If you only have idle time, the rings are likely not seated yet. I wouldn't idle it anymore until you take it on the road. You can scuff a set of rings quickly if they're never seated.
