DT466e won't turn over
This is driving me crazy.
Bus sometimes won't turn over and not sure why.
A month ago, tried to start and it wouldn't,
put a charger on the batteries and tried to start after, it wouldn't.
Put in a new set of batteries, still wouldn't start.
Put the old ones back in and it started, took the new batteries back.
week later wouldn't start
charged the batteries, started after.
2 days ago, wouldn't turn over
charged the batteries wouldn't turn over.
Today, had the batteries tested, both didn't pass so bought new ones.
Put them in, and it wouldn't turn over.
Read 12.67 volts with my amp meter 12.5 on the scangauge.
At one point
At one point tonight, it did start to turn over when i turned the key, i was turning back and forth rapidly to see if anything changed, and pushing harder or lighter. could it be the ignition switch?
WTH is going on?
Should it atleast try to turn over?
Also, what is the pump or whatever that runs when i turn the key.
Thanks for any help.

Have you checked power to the starter solenoid?

Not starting and not turning over are two different symptoms so please help us out and be clear on what is occurring.
I'll speak to the "does not turn over". Make sure all you connections, from the battery to the starter are clean and tight.
Could it be the ignition switch? MAYBE...easy to test. Remove it from the dash, unplug the wires and test with an ohmmeter. for an extra measure, put twelve volts on it and test with w test lamp to see if you get a bright light or a dim light when you turn the key. A dim light will indicate a bad/loose or dirty connection somewhere.
When testing electrical problems always start from the beginning and that is make sure you have VCC, power that is.

Ok thanks, details are very helpful so here's a question...
What tranny do you have?
I ask because on an electronic tranny like the MD3060, if the tranny TCM (ECU) has a power issue then the motor will not turn over.
But please do check your connections and your ignition switch too before you proceed.

There is a large wires/wires on the starter and a smaller wire. Use a 12V test light or volt meter and test for power there while an assistant turns the key to "Start" position. If power there and no crank, then the starter is the issue. If not it's ignition, wiring, interlock, or other issue.

There are quite a few wires going here. Wanted to confirm which to test?
Thanks. Dave

The big one in the corrugated plastic sheath is from the battery, be very careful with that it carries a lot of amps. You want to test that to see if it has a good connection the the batteries and you also want to test the little wires adjacent to it to see if they receive voltage when the key is turned.

So still struggling with this.
I switched moved a little bit in the dash so i pulled it and put a washer behind it just in case it needed to ground thru that connection. Everything looked fine on the switch, but not sure how to test it.
Not sure on what wires to test on the starter/solenoid.
Last night put a lead on the large wire going into the solenoid and the red wire that goes over it and under the right side. It read 12v before the key was even on.
Strangely enough when i had my wife turn the key to test, it turned over the first time. but after she switched it off, no more.
If anybody has more advice on troubleshooting it, I would appreciate it.

Ignition switch testing
Here is a video on how to test an ignition switch with a volt/ohm meter.
The video is for an international truck but the process is the same for the bus ignition switch.
good luck.

Is it in neutral? Might sound dumb, but I often run into this helping other people with there skoolies. Move the shifter into another gear and put back in neutral and try again. Sometimes it's just dumb stuff we overlooked

Just a follow up here.
Whoever said kick the wires to the left of the driver was right. There was a connection over there that I tightened and haven't had a problem since.
I Really appreciate all the help in troubleshooting this issue
