Engine size in a 1994 IHC?

I've not seen the bus yet but if everything checks out this is probably the one I'm going to spring for if we can come to an agreement on price. The question I have about this bus is the engine size. The guy says it is a 406 Navi. Is he reading this wrong and it is a 466; or is a 406 an engine they made in this era? If so; what kind of rep. does it have?
Thanks again guys,

dt408 is probably what it is. Not as common as the dt466, but still a good engine.

I love school bus ads that are complete.

School bus.
Diesel.
Automatic.
I'm not going to tell you the miles but know that it's just barely broken in.
Diesels are known to go millions of miles even with no oil changes or service. Just sprinkle some fairy dust...LOL

I'll need some Fairy dust for my "just barley broken in" 1975 1 ton chevy van once I've sequestered a bus to my liking!

Re: Engine size in a 1994 IHC?

I called to set up a time to look at this bus and it is sold.
So the look continues. There is always the IH 3800 from
the bus dealer in Webster SD. Problem is then I've got to
get it and my car back to ND 400 miles away. That is my
ace in the hole for now. I tried to get them to transfer it
to their other outlet in Bismark ND; nothing doing unless I
pay a transport fee of 1.45 per mile. So for now I threw
my hand in on that deal.

Can you take a Greyhound to pick up the bus? Or give a buddy gas a few bucks?

Re: Engine size in a 1994 IHC?

I need the bus where I'm working so I've got no buddies here. I work 400 miles from home; that is why I need the bus. I need a cheap place to stay. Also I work 60 odd hours per week besides trying to get home every other weekend to make sure someone hasn't taken up residence in my bed other than my wife Life is a little wild for me these days.
I am waiting for a call from a guy with a 92 Ford hi-top not far from here; so I think I've got the bus thing covered. He needed to get it in the shop and clean it up a bit, change the oil and grease it. He should be calling this week.
An IH would have been nice, so too, would have been a Cummins. This ford 6.6 will do nicely with the hi-top and standard 5X2. Not a lot of power but I never travel the I-state anyway. I'm more about economy than power. My diesel car doesn't even have a turbo and I love that thing.

Gus (per David Allen Cole) that's almost the perfect country and western song......except for not talking 'bout a train or mama.....or getting drunk

peace my brother and life will make you smile....cheers....start the morning with a mimosa

Re: Engine size in a 1994 IHC?

After I read this I realized how crazy it sounded . . .but ya . . I'm in the oil field things are a little wild a woolie up here. The part about my wife I just threw in there for good reading. She'd have me by the short hairs if she read it!!
The guy with the bus in Rugby, ND called and the bus is ready so I'll wander over this weekend and give it a closer look.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<I see, on the left, I'm almost there<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Here's a fine example I read today.

Q: what engine is in this unit (9/15/13 10:21 AM)
A: Diesel (9/16/13 9:53 AM)
