Fuel Filter NAPA# 3338

Oil Filter NAPA# 1789 (My bus takes 2)

International Air Filter Part #476741C1
(NAPA# 2253)

Transmission Filter Kit (for Allison 543)
NAPA# 1-4959

Transmission Filter Kit (for Allison 545)
NAPA# 1-7560

External Transmission Filter
NAPA# 1196

Coolant Filter (for turbo)
NAPA# 4073

Oil Capacity- right at 20 quarts, so buy the 5 gal bucket

Trans fluid Capacity (for filter/fluid change)- just over 20 quarts. so buy a 5 gal bucket as well (this is true for the 545 and 543).

Ok Smitty, how about a stupid question?

What's the difference between the two trannies? I have a 545.......

Fuel Filter NAPA# 33338 <----this is the spin on filter. The fuel-water separator is 33337

Oil Filter NAPA# 51789 (My bus takes 2)

International Air Filter Part #476741C1
(NAPA# 42253) <---this is the outer filter. The inner filter is #42254

Transmission Filter Kit (for Allison 543)
NAPA# 1-4959 <---58890

Transmission Filter Kit (for Allison 545)
NAPA# 1-7560 <---58892, I have this filter listed for the MT600 series as well as the AT545 with the deep pan. The shallow pan AT545 filter is 58890 so you may well still have an AT545. The AT543 uses the same filters as the AT545 with the different shallow and deep pan choices.

External Transmission Filter
NAPA# 51196

Coolant Filter (for turbo)
NAPA# 24073

Oil Capacity- right at 20 quarts, so buy the 5 gal bucket

Trans fluid Capacity (for filter/fluid change)- just over 20 quarts. so buy a 5 gal bucket as well (this is true for the 545 and 543).

And now you have the Wix numbers. I have all the references for Wix so I can do my best to help out people if they need it. There's 6 of us fools from Minnesota that were big enough suckers to go through all of their training.

Across the Wabash in Mt. Carmel IL, on the same line. When I was working for Walts we'd pick up several loads a day from there. I would ask the workers in the factory what was the difference in the filters. The consistant answer was the packaging and labeling........ They are identical inside.

My pan has what I'm guessing is a bung for a temp sending unit directly across (other side) from the fill/dipstick tube.....does that strike a spark under your crystal ball?

Good info to know, thanks for adding it. Also, aren't the NAPA Gold series filters made by WIX?

Smitty
Most NAPA Gold filters are made by Wix. As I understand it, it's up over 90% most of the time. A Wix factory rep clued me in on this. He did state though that you are not necessarily guaranteed it is a Wix filter because it doesn't say Wix on the box. Wix also makes two product grades, their premium Wix branded stuff, and a lower level "value" line though the NAPA stuff should be the premium stuff. The only exception to the box rule would be a case like Moog a few years ago when their factory or warehouse or whatever it was burned down. Then you found TRW, Spicer, etc parts in their box, but that was extraordinary circumstances.

I have a 1999 BlueBird with a Cummings and the owners manual says an AT545.

NAPA gave me a tranny kit (internal filter and pan gasket), part number ATP 17560. The gasket was correct, and the filter was identical, except the rubber grommet for where the the pickup-tube inserts into the filter was wrong. I was able to use the old grommet, and got the job done, but I can't do that forever. My grommet's inner diameter is about 0.7", whereas the one they gave me was much bigger. I will look into the Wix 58890 (or NAPA equivalent) and post my finding here eventually...

They also gave me the wrong external tranny spin-on filter. That was obvious by size, and the part numbers did not match. Don't remember what they gave me (the 1196 listed below sounds familiar), but Wix 51268 (NAPA 126 is the correct one.

They also failed to give me a correct oil filter or fuel filter. I got the numbers from the old ones. NAPA Gold 1619 for oil, and 3585XE for fuel. Glad I changed the fuel filter in their parking lot.

Funny, the spin on motor oil filter they list as a "hydraulic filter" and the spin on tranny filter as an "oil filter".

there were various versions of the AT545.. most notably a deep pan and shallow pan version... and also the early versions which were AT540 and AT542.. NAPA computers seem to mess this stuff up..

since bluebird is still in business you can call a bluiebird dealer with your VIN / Body number and they can likely tell you the bluebird part numbers of what filters to use.. then you can cross reference them to aftermarket WIX / NAPA part numbers..

Cadilac Kid has you covered.

i went through the exact same thing. same solution too.

the part number i pulled off the web somwhere.

i believe the larger hole gromet is the same as the 643 filter kit. i think the shallow pan had 3 differnt version of filters. one is similar to the deep pan filter.

if it were SAE sizes, i'd say the right grommet for mine held a 1/2' pickup tube. the one i bought had a 3/4" tube.

that new filter will work for me.... not planning on ever messing with it again.
