Front end steering/break issue!

I have a 2005 international ce300. While driving, I had a hard jerk to the left (drivers side) and the steering wheel became off center. Later down the road, the bus jerked to the right and the steering wheel went back to almost the center position about 15 degrees to the right of center. I’m getting a rubber squealing sound when I turn to the left. I’m at the start of a year long road trip and I need Help! Currently parked overnight at camping world in Roanoke VA. Any school friends near here please come help!

sounds like one of a couple things..

1. the steering box gears are so worn that you jumped a tooth then jumped it back..

2. the Tie-rod ends (one or both). have loose collars and jumped a couple threads..

the squealing is likely the tires as you are probably WAYYY out of alignment at this time.. one tie rod is possible toe'd out and the other toe'd in..

either way i sure wouldnt drive it far(and only at slow speeds...) till you can jack it up and start shaking the tires and see what moves... you dont want something to let go at highway speeds as you could loose complete loss of steering control..

Bad king pins could also be the cause.
