governor removal

I have a 2004 international skoolie with a dt466

I’m looking for someone in the Nashville area that can remove my road speed limiter, activate cruise, and bump horsepower

Let me know if you have the tool, and what you’d charge

Check with your IC bus dealer, they might be willing to help. They'll have all the software for disabling the governor etc. Not sure about adding cruise though if the bus was never built with it.

PM cadillackid. He travels the country and has the software/laptop to accomplish some of what you want. Get a hold of him and see where he's currently at and if he could swing through Nashville in his travels.

I checked with one of mine and they said they would absolutely reprogram the speed limiter, however adding horsepower was a different matter that would require opening a ticket with International. I'm doubtful anything will come of that.

Yeah changing HP levels is usually more complex since a lot of times you need to beef up cooling capacity and change up shifting patterns. I can see why they wouldn't do that.

International has no interest in helping us. I’ve asked . I’ve talked with caddilackid and I don’t believe he’s around here at the moment

There's some people around that can reprogram the ECM remotely, you just need a decent Internet connection at the bus and the right cables and a laptop.

Try to find independent shops in your area that handle lots of International stuff. They might be a lot more willing to help you than the dealer.

There's a couple in my area that specialize in T44E/7.3 Powerstroke/DT466 stuff.

I appreciate the help- but this forum is my last resort, not my first. I have called or emailed every shop within 50 miles of me to no avail. So the only option I see at this point is an individual with the plug and know how willing to help. Thanks

Maybe the Kid will share the steps to do it, and you'll run into one of us who have a Nexiq clone in the future?

My trip is in a month and I still haven’t found a solution to my governor issues. Anyone near Nashville want to make a few bucks?

Keep bugging international, squeaky wheel gets the grease.
ask for manager, I'm sure he wants shop to make 1 hour pay for 15 min work. I was diesel mechanic for 20 years.

Mines a Cat not an International but when you find the right person it is literally 5 minutes like previously stated. Guy with the Cat laptop hooked to mine and took the rpm from 2400 to Cat max of 2640 then removed the governed speed and said I already had the most HP my motor was capable of and when I asked him what I owed him he just grinned and said it wasn't worth the trouble to fill out a ticket for five minutes of time, just go down the road and give him a call and let him know if I like it. Oh yeah, I liked it. He was a heavy equipment guy working on off road stuff, turns out the 3126 that's in a lot of buses is also in a lot of Cat off road equipment. Try calling some tractor places, the dt466 is in a lot of agriculture equipment too. Ya never know.

Good morning. I have a 2000 GMC Savana cutaway 3500 with the 6.5 diesel. I'm trying to get my speed limiter removed. Do you have any idea what needs to be done? Thanks
