I think I found a bus but needs a little engine work

So I found a bus at a killer price but it needs some engine work. I am wondering if it is worth it and was hoping that someone knows a little something since I am new to this whole thing.
its a 95 with 187000 miles
Amtram Genisis
DT466
Allison Trans/drive-line retarder
the owner says it Needs new liner pack and o-ring replacement and I am not sure what this cost would be. so if any of you have a clue what is intailed here it would be greatly appreciated. I am pretty mechanically inclined so I don't have a problem doing the work if it doesn't take a whole lot of extra tools or I wouldn't have a problem taking it to a shop but don't know if I am talking hundreds or thousands to be quite honest.
This bus has everything that I am looking for so I am hoping it would be worth it to buy it and fix the issue.
Thanks in advance for any help you are able to give.
Chad

There was a recent overhaul of a DT360 (similar to the DT466, just smaller) on these threads:

and

End result: success!

As long as they sell the bus to you for under $1500, it's rust free, and your willing to do the work, go for it.

Any more than that and I would look for a better one.

On the plus side you would be good for another million miles after the in frame rebuild.

Engine work can be fixed. Bad rust is a deal killer.

Nat is spot-on.
The engine needs rebuilt and that's not the biggest deal in the world as long as the block and head are not damaged.
1500 or less and rust free, go for it, esp if the tires are good.
