Depends on the context that it is used.......

I'll stick with : Water-Methanol mix. Usually injected into the intake to increase HP and reduce EGT's.

I like water / meth. it tends to keep pistons and injector tips cooler... in general lower EGTs mean a happier engine.. at least for the pistons and those HEUI injectors that love to get warm!
its been proven that mild tunes on the 7.3 actually increase its life.. some of the cheapo tuners did nothing but dial in lots of timing.. those temnded to be the silent killers of engines.. but the better tuners which dial in timing as well as both HPOP and Pulse width ... ie someone spent real time researching and learniong and likely lots of dyno time to develop their device.. those are the ones which help make engines last..

and there were those craptastic ones that did nothing but fool the boost sensor and the ICP sensor.. those tended to result in high EGTs and prematurely failing HPOPs
I agree with all you said, no I don't turn 3000 for a long long time, normally it shifts by 2850 depending on go pedal position but some times I have ran it a little hard up hill 32-3400RPM range for a mile or 2 but not at WOT and right the water meth keeps it cooler. But no that's not a every day thing even, anymore I don't drive it every week anymore. I'd say the engine will make another good 200k, the rear end I rebuilt but just with half a care so I don't drive it much anymore mainly if it's something my van can't deal.

Christopher did I read that correctly that you can now bump the tune on a t444e? I have a 97 with the 175 tune and am visiting Pittsburg from New Mexico in my bus. I could be in Columbus in 3 hrs. Drove through there yesterday. Would you be willing to give it a try. Thanks for any help. Will send a ph # in pm if you would like to talk.

When I was about 13 me and another neighborhood kid found our way in to an OLD garage that looked abandoned. We weren't there to tear up the place or steal anything, just bored kids.
There was a MINT 4 door bulletnose sedan with the og straight six flathead in it. We spent a couple hours just looking at it and sitting in it. A few years later when I was old enough to drive I racked my brain trying to think of a way to find out how to buy it. But we weren't supposed to even know it was there.
To this day I wonder what ever happened to that car. It had to have sat there a decade or more.

Sorry for the thread drift.

Now back to the usual bus banter!

Lets get everyone's 44$ souped up!!!

I remember my dad standing in line at the Calgary Stampede in about 1944 - Studebaker had a display of the new 'can't tell which way it's going' car - they were taking pre production orders - there must have been 100's of people in the line - he never did get delivery of the car, don't know why, but he did buy a 39 Studie a couple of years later - flat head 6 of unremarkable power, but other than the 3 on the tree connections getting crossed up and jamming from time to time, a reliable car - later, a teen aged buddy bought a old Studebaker 'Land Cruiser" (???? ) with a flat head straight 8 in it - thing would out pull a tank it seemed

years later I picked up a 4? studebaker pickup - 1/2 ton with a FRAME on it - frame on the 1/2 ton was much heavier than the frame on Ford, Chev, or International 1 tons

What's the closest you'll be passing to this area? I'll meet up with you wherever you end up.
Or hit me up on your way north and claim this awesome bike-prize while summer is upon us.

Water meth sure helped my EGTs at WOT going up the mountain a good 150-200min depending. Maybe you are just a little on the lean side.

If that all the heat you see, that's not bad at all.
I've tow alot with a 00 F350 7.3 with a mild tune and at WOT pulling 10k up hill I get around 1200 sometimes 1300 depending, my truck has 48something k miles on the org engine that has never seen any serious work, EGT is mounted into the exhaust manifold. I have no clue what HP it is at, engine sticker says 275 I thinketh. Though it's doing nothing since it ate the pinon LOL but atleast it grinded it's way back home.
Christ is the man, sure he can help.
I haven't done any mods to my bus YET it's still stock for now. But I will do all the same mods to it as I did to my truck. The T444E is for the most part the same as the 7.3powerstroke which is the engine I'm the most knowledgeable on, I've rebuilt a few.
They are tough engines, just change the oil every 5k and coolant every 30k and drive it like you have some good sense and not like some kid with daddys truck and it will last a LONG TIME. They aren't the meanest coal rollers but they are reliable and with the HEUI system they can take dirty fuel that would kill a high pressure fuel pump.

the ford guys run their EGTs at 1250 all day... im told spikes of a minute or 2 to 1300-1400 are OK. but no more than that..

my EGTs run near 1000 when im cruising .. climbing mountains, I drop down to 4th gear and run it close t o the red line to spool the turbo and push 21-22 lbs of boost.. I sometimes have to back out on a tall grade as I hit 1200.. im told I could run it that way all the time but I usually lift a little to drop back below 1200..
