Well guys once more I’m going to see if you have any advice or suggestions inspecting the crank, rods, and what I can see of the pistons. Anything I need to do while I have the oil pan off? Should I pull one of the rod caps off to look at the bearing or main caps? Or should I just leave it all alone?
I know it would be nice to pressurize the coolant systems and turn the engine over manually to look for leaks in the sleeves, but I don’t have the radiator in to do that yet.
Originally when I started working on the mechanical side of things, I wanted to fix anything that I saw that needed attention plus any leaks. Originally I had a small amount of oil in the antifreeze, and I’m hoping it’s from the oil cooler, which I’m planning on replacing, I haven’t yet.
So far, some here already know I have removed the front timing cover, resealed everything, all new gaskets and most fastens. I replaced the water pump and thermostat, bought new motor mounts as well, new front and rear main seals. I bought a new radiator, but haven’t installed that yet. Will be replacing the belt and tensioner, along with the fan clutch.
So far when I pulled the pan off I saw that the crank had a painted 4 digit number on it, 5783, I’m not sure if that’s from factory or has something been done to it. I didn’t see any metal in the pan, and nothing odd that I could tell. Those that don’t know it’s a DT466E.
Any advice or information is definitely appreciated and everyone has been a big help so far!
Sorry for the long post, was just trying to give as much info as I can remember.
