Over cooling

hello, I have a 2003 international dt466e. My problem is getting the engine to heat up in cooler weather. Works fine in 50f or above but stays on 140 when cooler outside Temps and no heat from cab heater. I have replaced the thermostat but no change. Do these engines just run cold or might there be more than 1 thermostat. Anyone else have this issue? Thanks

How long/far are you driving it? If you're just starting it and letting it idle, it won't ever get warm enough. There's also the possibility that your dashboard gauge is malfunctioning and not showing the correct temperatures. I also have a 2003 DT466e and when I bought my BlueFire (a gadget that plugs into the data port and gives you a digital dashboard with a lot more parameters than just what's on the physical dash) I learned that my coolant temperature gauge was a bit off and my transmission temperature gauge wasn't reading anything at all).

A BlueFire is an essential investment IMHO. If you buy it direct from their site, use the code "AMAZON" and you'll get 15% off.

Hello. Thanks for replying.i am running a 2004 4300 series with a 2003 build date engine. It definitely does not heat up the engine coolant. I installed a manual temperature gauge and it won't get over 150 f unless I am pulling hard no matter how long it runs. If the outside temperature is above 50 it will reach 170 and I can get heat from the heater but if colder I cannot feel any heat in the cab. Already replaced thermostat in the underside of the housing at the top front of the engine

yea there is something wrong. you should be running 180 at least and more like 190 would be normal. You might have a thermostat that does not fit correctly, or is new and broken.

I had a hell of time finding the correct thermostats - there are two of them, in my 366 powered gasoline engine. I had to go to two stores, no one had two thermostats on the shelf. then there was finding the gasket... that was a third store...... grrrrr
