So I've heard from a woman who's in a pinch with her International Bus.....
Here is the situation as she relayed it:
Bus lifers, van lifers, RV lifers - do yourself a favor right now and if you don't have road side assistance (towing) and or tire coverage get online and add it to either your insurance or get Good Sam because tows aren't cheap, NEVER MIND the cost to fix whatever the issue may be. we were headed to the Everglades National Park and I went to step on the gas and the bus didn't accelerate-luckily we were on back roads and I was able to safely pull off on the side of the road. My @scangauge has the following codes but no where for the life of me can I find what they mean (not in the user manual or anywhere). ID 6518108 and 100.1 know the 100 is oil pressure with an FM O and a CNT of 0. Check all fluids all are good. some have mentioned that it could be throttle pedal wiring and connector at the pedal, it could be parking brake issue or brake issues or it could be the transmission or some wiring issue. I hope it's not the transmission because that would mean the end of bus life for me because I don't think my funds are there to replace the transmission. any help would be appreciated. I have the International Detroit Diesel DT466e with the Allison 545.
Any suggestions or viable information would be greatly appreciated, and passed along. She is a member of this forum, and I'm sure she'll be checking in when it's safe to do so.
Thank you, Smitty

I'm not trying to be snarky but what's the point of having a code scanner if there's no table of codes with which to interpret what it's telling you? This seems like a glaring shortcoming on scangauge's part if they don't provide any way to decode what the device reports.

I never owned a Detroit Diesel DT466e but when is the last time the fuel filter was changed? I had that problem, far from home, on the first Cummins I owned and it turned out to simply be a plugged fuel filter. Ever since then I keep an extra with me and it has come in handy over the last 30 years more than once.

That was my first thought as well. The engine runs and revs, but doesn't move. I fear it's a transmission issue, instead of an engine issue.

Could it be a #651 code with data following?
That could indicate corrupted memory in the ECM.

DD rebranded the DT and called it their "series 40".

smitty - I sent you a reply PM.. IH has a lot of proprietary data that comes across the diagnostics link.. ive written programs to decipher it.. but the best bet is to flash the codes on the dash..
turn off the bus, unplug the scangauge.. tuen the key on but dont start.. next to the round conector is a diagnostic button.. press and release it.. the yellow WARN lamp and red OIL/Water lamp will flash you out the codes as a series of sequences..
we can look those up in published tables.. the scangauge is great for monitoring data but it doesnt decipher the proprietary IHC stuff..

Thanks Chris, I appreciate the info and have relayed it to Denise. I believe she actually has a membership here on this forum, so I’m gonna poke around a little and see if I can learn anything from her posts.
Thanks for your help, I appreciate it.

Both fuel filters were just changed a few months ago and it’s been running great up until this instance. I don’t think it’s the fuel filters

Chris,
I retrieved the engine codes (if I’m reading them correctly based off the flashing lights) this is what pops up.
1 oil followed by 3 warn engine
2 oil followed by 8 warn engine
3 oil followed by nothing

Bus wont move - first step
A) Disconnect battery ( just pull ground wire) leave a light on to make sure you dont have a second battery - Forgive me I know this is over simplified.
B) everything with a computer needs a reboot so we start there. Second if you have air brakes check that the pressure relief is operating. Some Have a lock out to prevent operation if air gets to low.
C) if your running above the bottom 20% of the fuel tank check the filter drain ( follow manufactures method) water will give less than usual performance under load.
D) Smell transmission dip stick - should smell like fresh oil, if it smells smoky or is gray you could have a plugged up filter some are external( hope yours is) if its plugged up it could be big or small problem.
Lots of interlock switches like seat, seat belts, door, rear door. it is crazy.

Good Sam has been a PIA for us
I just wanted to add a quick note about our bad experience with Good Sam. Every time we have called them in the last 2 years they always try to tell us they don't cover our bus. We have a long argument where I explain that yes, they do in fact cover us under the premium plan we purchased. Then I am put on hold while they discuss this over with the tech guy and then they come back and will ask us to text them pictures of the bus showing it is converted before they will send anyone out. They never keep these pictures on file and always want new ones texted. This has been a big problem for us for those times when we are out in the boonies with no internet connection to send the photos. We are dropping them next month.
I heard AAA RV covers buses.
