Speedometer not working

Ok so I have a 2000 international 3800 bluebird t444e my speedometer doesn’t work now I know on a truck with the 7.3 liter motor if the speedometer doesn’t work it can damage the transmission because the computer determines shift points based in part on road speed but does anyone know if this aplies to the t44e?
I’m not concerned about fixing the gauge of not cause I just use the gps any way

Those dash clusters are notoriously problematic. I’d looked into that first before chasing down wiring.
Often the connector pins on the circuit board need to be resoldered.

Yeah so I’ve heard from the local salvage yard but he assures me it won’t damage the transmission so I’ll save the $200 for now

I have an '01 IH bus with some gauges not working. I have soldering tools and some knowledge on how to use them. I'll remove and repair mine (for free) when I have spare time.

That’s an excellent idea unfortunately for me I’ll have to wait for my spare time but I’m with you on that one
