I'm running Shell Rotella T-6 synthetic 5W-40.
Oil choice can be dependant on where you live. Go to the UserCP and fill out your profile with location and bus info. Makes it easier to answer your questions.

Either will work, 5 works better in cold temps.

A 5W viscosity grade requires the lubricant to flow properly at lower temperatures than, for example, a 15W viscosity grade, so it is expected to be used at lower starting temperatures. ... The 5W might also cost more than the 15W and break down more of the viscosity improver additives in the formula.

I'm located in Lubbock TX and have been using Sinopec 15w40 Synthetic Diesel Engine Oil T700 for the last year and so far so good.

I order the 5 gallon pail from Walmart for $57.
You got to keep an eye out for it though it sells out really fast. They usually get an order in once or twice a week. Just keep looking at the website. Delivery is also free.

I typically use Rotella T4 15w40. I only buy it when it goes on sale, which puts it at about $70CAD ($55USD).
If I'm in immediate need I buy whatever diesel rated 15w40 is on sale. Delvac, Delo, Motomaster... It seems there is always some sort of sale!

Edit: My bus has the T444e, but the oil requirements are the same.
