Wrong coolant possible cause of the common Dt466 cylinder liner leaks?

My Dt466 had leaking cylinder liner seals. Its repaired but I did some investigating. You hear lots of stuff about cavitation but this was not the cause of the leaks. It was due to hardened, cracked and possibly shrunken cylinder liner seals. What would cause that? Over heating? Possibly. But I started to dig into ELC and HOAT and OAT coolants. These are said to be hard on seals. I think using the traditional green antifreeze with a SCA additive may be the best solution. Or a Diesel antifreeze with the SCA in it. What are your thoughts?

Clayton,
Your best bet for coolant is a fully formulated extended life coolant such as Chevron Delo XLC or Shell Rotella ELC. It already has all the additives that a diesel needs and you never need to put any additives in it. You won't have to worry about it for 5 years. I have been a heavy duty diesel tech for 40 years, not the first DT with bad liner seals that I've seen.

PH testing to determine coolant condition and when to add an SCA is the way to go

From what I have seen the PH and SCA are for cavitation, not seal issues. It seems most ELCs have some OAT or HOAT in them and that's what is hard on seals. Gaskets and seal manufactures address this more than the coolant guys.

I attached some studies and here is 2 links:

Just a bit of supporting evidence. My Dad and Uncle have IHC combines from the 70s and early 80s that have the DT466 and DT436. They have never had any work done to them and still have the original green coolant. If I recall, about 4000 and 6000 hrs on them.
