2000 thomas saf t liner mvp er starter solenoid

Hello, so i have a 2000 Thomas saf t liner mvp er and it has a bad starter solenoid. I basically have to hot wire it by bypassing the solenoid to get it to start. I'm having trouble tracking down part numbers, instructions, and etc so that I can replace it. Any help yall might k ow.would be appreciated. It has a Cat 3126B 210 HP engine with an Allison MT643 automatic transmission. The battery is 12vdc. Or do you guys think that I'd be better off replacing the whole starter all together? Kind of working on a budget here. Any help at all would greatly appreciated.

I would imagine that the solenoid isn't a super specific part, it's just a solenoid with a specific amperage rating. Probably can't get one at like O'Reilly but there's probably some other source. Does your current one have any identifying numbers or info on it?

if the solenoid is mounted to the starter then i would either replace the starter or
we have auto electric shops that rebuild starters cheaper than new ones.
maybe you have that option as well?

No i couldn't find anything for identifying marks....I did find a parts manual or catalog of some kind on pdf from thomas and basically going off that I've narrowed it down. To it could be one of the 6 listed as power connector solenoid (the other solenoids listed say Air conditioner) Half of the power ones say 12vdc the others say 24vdc 100 amp....but it also doesn't say which power solenoid goes to which model because it covers what appears to be like all of the saf t liner busses from 1970s to current

Yeah I've been considering just replacing the whole starter it costs more but it sounds like it might save me money and time in the long run

on my older vehicles when the solenoid or ignition wire messes up i prefer changing to a push button and i usually tuck it away where its easy to use but not in plain sight.

That is an idea but my engine with starter is 30 feet back in the rear of my bus....it would be a long wire...also would bypassing the solenoid eventually hurt the starter? I'm asking out of genuine curiosity this is the most in depth I've gone into working with diesel systems....my previous experience has mostly been basic repairs and maintenance on regular cars
