Hi today i check out a 2002 Thomas built bus 28 ft with a 3126 cat engine and a 2000 series allison transmission. I had a mechanic check it out and a code of 64-11 came up faulty secondary engine speed timing sensor code. He also said there was aot of blow back. Anyone have experiemce with these issues ? They are asking 3300 for it. I might be able to get them lower. Is this a good buy or not worth the trouble?
If, beside the engine issue, it is THE bus you're looking for (size, floorplan, overall condition), I think the price is fair. You can find a good used 3126 and swap it when/if needed.
x 2 on getting the price tag lowered, especially if you are prepared to rebuild or swap out the existing engine.
Hidden costs pop up and unless money is no concern to you, you might do better and pass on this one for one in better mechanical condition?
