Dead Batteries - Battery Drain?

Hi all! Nice to meet you.

So, we've been trying to move our Thomas Pusher off of our grandma's lot so we can work on it easier. The problem is the batteries keep dying. We got new ones, a week later and they're dead! We do turn off the battery switch above the engine.

It was sitting on metal in the battery compartment, and it's been cold out, that could be draining it but we're not so sure.

The only thing I can think of is either we need to totally disconnect it from the circuit and not even rely on the switch, or, it's being drained by some on board system. I'm not entirely sure.

The batteries become really difficult to charge after sitting for a while. Our battery maintainers are getting a work out, that's for sure.

Do you all have any guesses/or deal with similar problems?

Thank you so much in advance.

Yes! I have a Thomas. Is your door hydraulic with a switch to open it? Mine is. And mine died a lot at first. New batteries and everything. The door is wired directly to the battery and if left in on position it'll kill them. I have a switch by the door that turns up from normal to emergency. I keep it up on emergency and just pull the door open and shut while i build. Once built, i worry about this issue cause im forgetful. I did buy a battery charger just for when it happens again tho. But I'll bet that is your problem.

Hi there!
Sorry for the delay, but thank you for the reply!!

That helped a LOT! I think we still have a lot of on board crap the district installed, and removing those seem to help too. We appreciate it so much!
