Your Cat will get awful indigestion if you try and fill it with gas. . . .
Like BlackJohn said, watch out for foaming when filling diesel. The fuel foams in the filler pipe (like a root beer float), and sometimes it will fill the pipe. (Ford pickups from 2000-2006ish often have this problem.) Sometimes the fuel pump nozzle detects the foam, thinks the tank is full, and shuts off.
So don't over-fill the tank, but if you know it was down to a quarter, and it only takes 6 or 10 gallons, you've probably got a foam problem. Wait a few minutes, and slow down your fill speed on the pump a bit.
