OBX Bus will not turn over.

Went to move it just now. No go. It's a 3126.

Everything lights up and I hear a buzzer. Battery meter goes to 12.1. Measured in circuit but no key turned, batteries are at 12.36.

Yes, it as fuel.

Seems not to be pulling in the solenoid, but it's RE, so I can't tell from where I am. I'll have help looking in the engine compartment tomorrow when I turn the key again.

Hitch #1 on the project.

Won't turn over as in won't physically crank, or won't start after turning over? Fuel (pressure, not presence) and cranking speed are critical with a diesel.

Hammers have been known to wake up stubborn starter motors.

Will not turn over, bad dog needs obedience training.

As it is a rear engine does it have a starter button in the engine compartment? If so I would try that next.

The buzzer is it the low air buzzer or is there a hatch, emergency window, door ajar etc? Anything with a safety switch open will stop it from starting and give a buzzer.

My Bobcat needs the hammer every now and then, the bendix gets stuck.

I thank Cheese Wagon and Ronnie for their replies,

The 10 minutes I had to try to move it were 10min I had for it tonight. Election junk beckons, and also I must go be Dad. Whatever anyone posts here before 3pm tomorrow, I'll try as soon as I can -- probably about 3:10pm.

Thank you again.

12.36 volts *may* be enough charge. If it is cold where you are at, 12.36 volts will not be enough. Any way to put a charge on the battery?

Oh yes, he does, well we know cats are not trainable, they do their own thing. Ours do like tummy rubs though.

12.3 standing volts is a bit low.. I would give the batteries a good charge and see if that helps..

I want a Kitty CAT engine to play with.. my real kitty keeps me good company when im building the software and electronics for my busses

So I've been looking for a operator's manual online for this bus [image attached].

I can't find one yet. Some quick and on my part silly questions.
1) Where is the brake air pressure gauge?
2) Where is an auxiliary/external fill point/connector.

If I understand the prior replies, the most likely reason it will not start is that air system has leaked down below a limit.

BTW, it starts with a key on the console.

Can you post a pic of your bus? If it's a conventional, your operator's manual will largely be dependent on the base incomplete chassis. Flat-nose will as well, but are usually custom built chassis by Thomas, conventiinal will be on a Class 6/7 truck chassis, which can be obtained through the chassis manufacturer.

Here are several pictures.

I am 100% certain the rear engine bay door was closed and the seat belt buckled. Air needle bobbled on starting but did not go past 30?

I did not need to do anything but turn the key to drive it off the lot.

Is that rear Start button intended to bypass the front keylock?

A correction, air needle does not move at all on trying to start it.

Do I correctly recall the prior comments that there is an interlock for all door switches and the seat belt and air pressure?

This bus is almost identical to mine.

I'm going to try to duplicate the video sequence and conditions.

Low air pressure shouldn't keep it from starting, that would keep it from starting to build air pressure. Kind of a catch-22 to disable the one thing that facilitates air pressure by preventing starting the engine. I could see a door or shifter interlock though. Have you possibly drilled or screwed into a wiring harness inside the wall?

Rear start does bypass the key on some.

No mods on the bus yet.

Video of me trying to start it. From my phone, I'll try to get better later.
It's a console pushbutton gear select, no shifter I know of.

Yeah, I saw it was an MD3060 after I posted that. Didn't edit it fast enough.

Sounds like a bad solenoid or starter relay.

The rear start is more for maintenance, and trouble shooting. I have not tryed it but do not think it will allow the trans to be put in gear if useing the rear start. Next week I can find out for sure, a friend has a safety liner that I have worked on before and will see him next week.

Low air has nothing to do with starting other then the low air buzzer will sound.

Check roof hatches are completely closed, emergency door is closed and latched and all emergency windows are fully closed. It will not start if any are even slightly open.

Most of the wireing runs just above the windows on the drivers side. Drilling into that would make a real mess......

Picture showing the other tag to the right?
