Thermostat Rating

I have a Cat C7. The temps at the heater cores only show 80º. What is the t-stat rating and are they hard to replace?

Should be 180-195 depending on what was speced out. Check your cylinder head temp to see how warm it actually is. If that checks out fine, some busses have an electric coolant pump to transfer coolant to and from the heaters. Check and make sure that is working. If that is fine, then check to make sure your heater cores aren't plugged up.

Talked to the stealership this morning, and he agreed with me that the t-stat was caca. Sad part? $50!!! But, that's something I can do all by my lonesome.

Ended up buying the TWO thermostats for this C7 engine. Yes, I said TWO. But, the first guy was sadly misinformed. Two T-stats and one gasket set me back $36. Yes, they'll be installed, but I still want warmer weather. I got the insulation panels yesterday, but the temps are cooperating.
