1999 ISC scan tool software for PC?

What (free) software should I use to scan a 1999 ISC? Will Torque pull codes? I can get codes from the transmission from the shifter but my el cheapo scanner doesn't seem to want to talk to anything. (I used an adapter cable.) I have both bluetooth and USB ELM327 devices.

your ISC likely pushes out J1708 or J1939 Raw data... a scangauge D can read thew data and error codes.. its a paid device..

ive done quite a bit with ECM hacking on the 1708 and 1939 streams of my navistar using devices from bb-electronics which do the heavy hitting of the protocol.. if your systems is J1708 .. (1999 is a transition year .. between 1708 and 1939 ... do you have the 6 pin or 9 pin port??)..

then you need an ELM 325, the ELM327 cannot talk J1708 / 1587.

I am writing most of my own software for the digital dashes now on my red bus.. some of it is commercial at this point but others is my own home brew.. (as I have time).. I used a raspberry pi 3 with the bb-electronics device and read / translate the 2 data busses in my engine... I have both 1708 and 1939 on my T-444E engine...

Sadly, six pin port.

I have looked at the Scangauge D and it seems like a likely future purchase.

I came across https://copperhilltech.com/blog/moni...r-arduino-due/ which talks about monitoring with an arduino and a fancy max485 module with five pins instead of four. I ordered a cheap one, I'll see if I can break out the pin that they didn't connect and slap together the J1708 circuit as in https://copperhilltech.com/a-brief-i...708-and-j1587/ ... I have everything I need, in storage of course.

Is there any chance I can connect more leads to my PCM and get CAN?

Anyone here have any experience with the BlueFire products?

Yes, I have their 1708 version. I've found them very responsive to questions. The software isn't as flexible as I'd like, but I'm sure that will change in time.
