2001 Cummins 5.9 injection question

I am looking at a 2001 Freightliner based Thomas bus. The bus is in another state and I have only seen pictures, and the owner is not knowledgeable. The bus is powered by a 5.9 Cummins with some kind of Allison behind it. Anybody have any idea whether this is going to be a mechanically injected engine with the P-7100 injection pump?

Being a 2001, if it's the original engine, it will have a vp44 in it.

It will also likely have an at545 as well.

That's pretty much the plain jane entry level combo in the school bus world.

Would it still be a 12 valve engine? Or like the pick up trucks of this vintage, a 24 valve?

Interesting to note then, that there are companies that make components to convert a 24 valve from the VE pump to the P pump, but is pretty extensive and pretty expensive. You could probably find a 12 valve engine for less and just swap it.
