3000 series Allison and mechanical injection

I have talkin to a fellow with a 1998 TC2000. 26 feet long. I have a 1994 TC2000 with Allison 545.

If there is a shift pad, no T handle, is the only choice a 3000 series Allison?

He showed me a picture of the engine bay. It is a Cummins 5.9 with mechanical injection.

In all my research I've never seen a 545 or a 643 with. Digital shifter, they should of only work by cable. 1994 is tool early for the 2400. I have seen quite a few 12v with Md3060 in TC2000.

That era 3000 should have the wtec2 shifter which has 2 digit display in green.

Shift pad aka push pad….requires a TCM. A 545 does not have one.

thanks

For confirming what I suspected. This fellow was going to try to swap transmissions later on for an "upgrade". I told him that he had the best of the best already.

The dump truck I bought and stole the DT466 and 3060 out of had a "t" handle shifter but I changed it to a pad for safety reasons, Wtec 2, 1995.

3060 can have a t handle. It won't have a cable shifter though as it's no more then a fancy switch for telling the tcm what gear range you want. It will still have a mode button and the red diag light fwiw. I think it was a more expensive option over the standard push button unit.

Button shifter in a school bus would be almost certainly be a 3060. You can also get the button shifter with the 4000 series and the b500, but those weren't installed in school buses AFAIK. Only coaches, straight trucks, and garbage trucks.
