5.9 Shifter cable?

Moving the bus today during musical cars and got no reverse. I'm almost certain its the shifter cable. I can get neutral and forward gears by going under the bus and pulling the selector by hand but not reverse. the shifter is soft and doesn't really click into place when trying to find N or R.

Has anyone had these symptoms before? Is there a bigger underlying issue? Is my transmission gonna blow up?!? Just kidding, I'm really far from the panic button right now, just looking for a little clarity. Can't go to the shop for a couple week$.

Saying what transmission it is would be helpful.

If you're not sure pix of the data plate and or the transmission itself will help.
