5.9L won't turn over...no lights either

have had the bus (1993) sitting while we work on conversion. last cranked about two weeks ago with no prob (when bleeding coolant lines after hurri-hot removal).

Today, will not crank or make any noise or run any lights. Batteries are less than one year old with little use overall. Have cleaned terminals.

any ideas on what to check next? thanks.

You need to start from the beginning to verify the battery still has power in it.

A dead short can suck a battery down dead within just a few short hours.

Checking to make sure the battery cable ends are clean and they are making a good connection can't be stressed too much. I have seen where a slightly loose battery cable end presented itself as no battery power.

they are napa batteries so we took them to napa...DEAD so dead.

however, one was taking charge so the clerk was optimistic. had to leave them overnight since they're so big.

next step, find my phantom power drain.

How to locate battery loss of voltage

Install any 12volt battery in the bus. Connect any lite or meter or horn inbetween the ground cable and the negative post. If there is any voltage loss
the lite will come on or the horn will make noise. The bus could have several voltage leaks. A long slow charge is usually better than a high rate of charge.
A fully charged battery is 12.7 volts. A battery showing 12.0 volts is 75% discharged... Frank
