Reality is these engines have some rattles that are normal, and it's hard to say if the ones you are hearing are the normal ones or not. Can you record a video of it maybe?

Mine is also pretty noisy when it first starts. And it can sound a bit differently at times, but most of the noise doesn't last long. So far it has always gone away in a minute or two. Then it gets much quieter, but of course it has a much higher decibel level than my small block Ford.

Getting other peoples comments and opinions after hearing the sound would be a very good idea.

I have 24 valve 5.9 & 8.3 and the sound they make when started cold varies depending on temperature.

As soon as you rev mine up from 1200 to 2000 Range every quick rev sounds like valve clattering if you hold it up there it just constantly rattles top of the engine and it just started doing it I've had it for about 5 years it's always sound great!

6bt's have mechanical followers which require periodic lash check/adjustment.

I'd start there.

psots can only be edited for 90 minutes. Keeps folks from shitposting then erasing it.
To upload a YT vid do this- copy the url of the video and just paste it right to the reply box without using the link or pic tools. It will automatically work once you submit the post.
