Cummins 5.9L 24v Tuner box, Is it any good?

Does anyone have experience with this tuning product?

My concerns is that it will reduce reliability and potentially blow up the engine. It looks like it tricks the OEM ecu by altering the sensor data.

Pros, Cons, Reviews, Information, opinions, and suggestions are all welcome.

Those were the original style "tuners" 20 years ago. They'd spoof the intake air temp and or map sensor to make the ecm believe it could inject more fuel then what the factory would have it normally injecting. This gives you more hp/torque. The factory tune is setup to meet emissions requirements, this device will defeat that to a point, because it'll enable the engine to burn more fuel and create more emissions then what it's supposed to.

Come to think of it, I have an edge version of one of those units somewhere that I pulled off a 24v and never reinstalled. Did it make more power? Possibly. Was it the 15%+ they claim, I don't think so.

The only reliability issues I've seen with these is when people use those god forsaken scotchloks that are included to install it. Scotchloks have no place on a vehicle, especially on an engine harness, because they aren't sealed and will corrode the wiring. If you're going to install this, solder and shrink wrap it like you're supposed to do with exterior wiring.

No I'm not planning on installing it, just curious. I saw an ad for it and thought I would run it up the skoolie.net tree.

Thanks for the insight.
